Distilled white vinegar should never be missing in our homes. This product is useful for many purposes, saves us time and money, and makes household cleaning easier and healthier. The smell of vinegar is not very pleasant, but the results of its application are impressive.
It’s non-toxic, it’s cheap and sustainable, and it’s really, really versatile. Below are the top 10 uses of vinegar for household cleaning.
- Cleaning the washing machine Fill the washing machine with hot water, pour a glass of vinegar into it and leave for about an hour and a half. Then start a wash cycle. When it’s finished, scrub the entire surface with a sponge to remove any dirt. Pour hot chlorinated water (about 2 cups) again and let it sit for an hour and a half, then start another cycle.
- Removing limescale Vinegar has a perfect acidity percentage to remove limescale stains. To remove them from jars, use a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Dip the glass and leave it on for a few minutes. Alternatively, you can pour the mixture into a spray bottle and apply it to glass, windows, mirrors, stainless steel, and other lime-stained surfaces.
- Simply pour 4 tablespoons of vinegar into a bowl and let the nozzle soak overnight. The next day it is as good as new.
- Cleaning the oven trays Using a sponge, rub the trays with vinegar and leave them on for 15 minutes. Next, use the rough side of the sponge to lightly scrub the entire pan: the dirt can be removed with little effort.
- Cleaning of stainless steel Mix 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water in a spray bottle and use it to clean any stainless steel surface, first leaving the vinegar on for a few minutes.
- Cleaning faucets As in point 5, leave it on for a few minutes before removing and rinsing.
- Cleaning Iron With the help of a toothbrush, vinegar and baking soda, the entire bottom of the iron can be cleaned. Turn it on and let it heat up so that the steam works too.
- Removing rust stains from carpets Pour vinegar directly onto the stain, just enough to saturate it completely (about 40 minutes). Rub the stain with a cloth soaked in vinegar, then wipe it off with a dry cloth.
- Removing kitchen dirt Add 20 drops of lemon essential oil and 20 drops of lavender essential oil to a vinegar bottle with a spray head. Use it like an ordinary cleaner.
