Cream

We need:

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 250 ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

We take the milk and pour it into a saucepan and add the sugar and cornstarch. Stir with a hand mixer, then add an egg and continue stirring.

We put the pot on the stove and continue stirring until we get our cream. Then we remove the pot from the heat and let the cream cool to room temperature.

While it is cooling, we prepare the dough.

If you want to skip this step, you can use the ready-made cream that is available in all supermarkets.

Dough The following ingredients are selected:

  • 70 g butter
  • 170 g flour
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom flavoring
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 8 g baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • Salt

In a large bowl, add the flour, sugar and a pinch of salt. Add the baking soda, orange blossom flavoring and the softened butter previously cut into cubes. Then we begin to knead with our hands until we get a homogeneous, sandy mass. Now add the egg and knead again.

Once we have received a ball of dough, we divide it into two halves: a larger one and a smaller one.

Then place both halves in the fridge for 60 minutes.

Apples

For the caramelized apples we use:

  • 30 g butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 apples

First, the apples are freed from the skin and core and cut into thin slices. Then we put the apples in a pan and add the sugar and butter. We put the pan on the stove and stir with a spoon until the desired result is achieved.

After an hour, we can prepare our apple pie.

Preparation of the cake

Line a flap cake pan with a diameter of 22 centimeters with baking paper. Then we take the dough out of the refrigerator and rub the larger half on the bottom of the cake pan. After the bottom is completely covered, we place the caramelized apples on top and carefully spread them all over the surface. Now we pour the cream prepared at the beginning over it and level it well.

We cover everything by grating the remaining part of our dough. The sliced almonds add an extra touch to the whole.

Now all you have to do is bake the cake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. When the cake is done baking, we put it in the refrigerator for another 30 minutes.

Finally, turn the creamy caramelized apple pie out onto a flat plate and dust with powdered sugar.
