How to clean the microwave to keep it looking like new

Everyone has a microwave in their kitchen. It is one of the most used appliances for cooking or reheating meals, and for this very reason it is also one of the dirtiest.

That is why it is important to disinfect it regularly and also be effective . To ensure the latter, we bring you this article in which we share some of the best cleaning methods.

Almost all of them involve some sort of preparation for a solution. Fortunately, all the ingredients that we propose in each of the methods can be easily found in any home or, rather, in any kitchen.

Be sure to follow step by step the method that seems most effective to you or simply the one for which you have the ingredients to carry it out.

Tip 1: Lemon extract

One of the easiest ways to clean the inside of your microwave is to use lemon juice.

What do you need?

  • 1 lemon
  • Water (250 ml)

Instructions for cleaning the microwave with lemon

  1. Cut the lemon in half.
  2. Place the two halves in a microwave-safe bowl and add the water.
  3. Place the bowl with the lemon in the microwave and heat everything for a minute and a half or two minutes.
  4. Let the steam do its work for a few minutes.
  5. Open the microwave and wipe the entire surface with a damp cloth until all stains and old food debris are removed.

If you prefer, you can squeeze the lemon and mix the juice with the water instead of cutting the lemon in half. The end result will be the same.

Tip 2: Cleaning products

What do you need?

  • Water (250 ml)
  • Detergent (1 tablespoon)
  • Sponge

Instructions for cleaning the microwave with detergent

  1. Place the water in a microwave-safe container.
  2. Add the tablespoon of laundry detergent to said container.
  3. Stir just a little to mix everything together.
  4. Microwave waves the bowl for 1 minute.
  5. Make sure the liquid doesn’t overflow (just in case).
  6. After the time has elapsed, remove the bowl and clean the inside of the microwave with a sponge soaked in soapy water.
  7. Clean with the sponge until there are no more stains, then wipe everything again with a damp cloth. Make sure there’s no dish soap left anywhere, because we don’t want dish soap left over the next time you reheat your food.

These are easy, fast, and inexpensive methods that you can use to clean your microwave and get rid of all the dirt inside and food debris.
